Pros

You can make a decent rate and get some experience on your resume.

Cons

OMG, they lie. Most of the time when their recruiters call you they don't have a job, even if they say they do. They data-mine you for as much information as they can get. I have caught them more than once saying that they have a position they're recruiting for - and they don't. Tips - never, ever tell then how much you are making or have made in the past. When they keep asking (and they will) tell then you signed a non-disclosure agreement and can't disclose that information. Never tell them how much you want - make them tell you what the rate is for a given position, if they claim to have one. If they're calling you about a position, chances are good that other agencies in the same area will call you also for that same position. Don't commit with TEK unless it's your only option. Don't give them your references unless you know that TEK is submitting you to a client. They WILL call your references and try to data-mine them. Be careful giving TEK info like your manager's name, title, etc. Getting this info is often the only reason TEK is talking to you. I've worked in IT for decades and out of all the agencies, TEK is one of the worst.

Pros

TEK always comes in clutch when you need something right away. Never had a bad Engagement Manager either

Cons

Not sufficient benefits for contracts, sometimes contracts are wishy-washy on 'End Date'

Pros

- Decent pay to start. - Account manager is responsive, engaging, and a serious advocate for you and your contract. - Gain access to Udemy Business to build more skills.

Cons

- The benefits suck. - High recruiter turnover with highly variable experience trying to work with them-- some are good, most are not. - Once you are placed, you will be promised regular meetings and then never hear from the recruiter again. - Trying to find a new contract if you are unhappy with your current placement is nearly impossible and I don't believe they are incentivized to help you move at all. - You have to manually request a raise and depending on how you negotiated your contract, you may or may not have the ability to receive one. - There is a cap to how much they will pay you for the contract so even if you work that position 4 years, once you hit that cap you are stuck. I originally submitted my resume with TekSystems when I had finished my degree and never heard back. Many years later, I was approached on LinkedIn by a TekSystems recruiter for a position and he had no idea I was in the system previously. Working with him was good, and I did get the position. Then I never heard from him again and I've had 4 or 5 different recruiters whose names I could not tell you if I tried since then. There's supposed to be monthly calls, they never happen.
