Pros

The experience won't kill you, or at least it shouldn't

Cons

This company is a hard place to work and be successful if you are thinking of working here in sales. The leadership here and the Chief Commercial Officer talk to themselves in the “ivory tower” but no direction, communication and guidance is given to the team outside of awkward yearly meetings in Vegas which are a time suck of awkward training/this training and time in Vegas is a distraction to what you need to know to be successful at this company. This co. has no onboarding, weekly or monthly team pull ups…no direction, no culture, no team building…you are 100% on your own to navigate internally. The company has an abusive account review process that leaves you shell shocked and personally attacked in front of your peers by the Chief Commercial Officer, ugh. Political. This company has a core group of sales executives from Convergys who have white-knuckled the sales of the company; they control leads, site visits, delivery and control “all the good logo’s”. If you work here, “you get the crumbs”. The former Chief Commercial Officer is the “head” of this internal team who unofficially runs the sales team and controls the culture at Telus International by the very nature he-hired most of the key people in sales and delivery. This is also a Canadian owned BPO (Parent is a Canadian Telco and an Asian PE Firm – all public knowledge). The culture is passive-aggressive and opaque-in other words, a very Canadian trait. This is a Canadian body with a rebuilt Convergys motor and transmission. Lastly, the leadership made 2 acquisitions into Xavient and Voxpro for growth into AI, bot and technology logo growth. In other words, Telus International is growing from acquisition and the companies they acquire also have sales teams-bad news for you; more dilution of leads, logos and opportunities. These acquisitions-like most in business are very hard to integrate the people, process and cultures. Brass tack summary: unless you come in with hot, qualified leads which no one else is in front of you will not be successful here. Everything is working against you unless you are buddies with someone in leadership. I have made this review direct, honest and B.S free. I have also left out a ton of detail and examples of how narcissistic, strange and political the current Chief Commercial Officer is. I have also left out examples of client calls the CCO ghosted on when I needed him most and how he sent me to meetings only to set me up to fail – this is passive aggressive, mean spirited and just not Varsity leadership…very JV. This company is not ready for prime time and its people showed me that. TelePerformance has 32 full FTE in sales in N.A alone and this is just one competitor Telus has. I hope I gave you some data points of my truth to balance out any decisions you have to make about your career as you support yourself and family. This review will evolve and is not “complete”.
