Pros
Laid-back work environment. Decent quality of training when available. Can be well-compensated for little effort (except for Operations personnel and linepersons who perform heroically). Current bonus arrangement is a slam-dunk - if not for direct deposit, I would literally have laughed my way to the bank.
Cons
Suffers from IBM disease; very proud of history, decades behind in some areas, and resistant to improvements (change) that would help performance. Because it is so far behind and resistant to anything new, it is nearly impossible for a professional to exercise the skills for which TVA pays so well, or keep current, in any field of expertise but energy. Middle management was incompetent yes-people, with no strategy for planning goals, execution, or personnel development except to recite talking points. No accountability - middle management prefers to set goals which are ambiguous, subjective, lacking challenge.
