Pros

Some extremely talented and kind people to work with. Great opportunities to grow, if you work hard enough and present the right way.

Cons

Since the company has changed hands they have fired countless people from headquarters all the way down to stores. Most of the new people they have hired are from Brooke's Brothers and know the executives. It's like a club you need to be invited to. Most teams are demotivated because they let go of more people than they hire. There is no on boarding procedures and employees are thrown into stores like wood to a fire. They fail before they begin and the cycle never ends. There is so much riding on the big idea while stores are drowning trying to make it work. In an effort to get more employees they have been pushing employees to go on LinkedIn as well as Glassdoor and talk up the company. So I can't say the percentages truly reflect the opinion of the employees. Based on how many people they have hired and fired it is starting to appear that only the few are "elite" enough to represent them. Talbots has become the ultimate example of not practicing what they preach. Their entire campaign is based around "hugging your customer" and that included the internal one. Can't say that many people are feeling the love.

Pros

None. This company is garbage compared to how it used to be.

Cons

Slave wages, not enough hours for anyone except management because the private equity company that owns us has cut our staff to a skeleton crew even on busy days. Management and associate alike are stretched super thin to the point of exhaustion. Even as a sales associate, there was a time I supported myself on a Talbots salary. Now I have to choose between paying my car insurance or getting an oil change. I used to get 30+ hours a week even as a sales associate. Now I'm lucky if I get 20. Health benefits are a rip-off. The company in my observation has had a time finding and maintaining good workers. If you value your livelihood, run fast and run far.
