Pros

Talbots is an amazing company to work for. I have worked for other retailers and never felt at home until I worked for Talbots. We pride ourselves in customer service and loyal dedication to a brand which many competitors lack. When you work for Talbots you become a part of a family. We believe in legacy, our brand, and our customer always comes first. The company is constantly coming up with new ideas and takes feedback from associates and well as customers on a consistent basis to perfect our brand. I always feel at home when I come to work and want to do better for my company and not just for myself.

Cons

It is very hard to get promoted at Talbots. I work very hard and ask for guidance on how to get a promotion, but I feel like it is a waiting game. I would never leave the company and I continue to consistently work hard, but feel I should have moved up by now. Also, the insurance plan is not the best, but I am not complaining. I work and have enough money to pay all of my bills on time as long as I buy nothing else.

Pros

None. This company is garbage compared to how it used to be.

Cons

Slave wages, not enough hours for anyone except management because the private equity company that owns us has cut our staff to a skeleton crew even on busy days. Management and associate alike are stretched super thin to the point of exhaustion. Even as a sales associate, there was a time I supported myself on a Talbots salary. Now I have to choose between paying my car insurance or getting an oil change. I used to get 30+ hours a week even as a sales associate. Now I'm lucky if I get 20. Health benefits are a rip-off. The company in my observation has had a time finding and maintaining good workers. If you value your livelihood, run fast and run far.
