Pros
I enjoy working at TaxSlayer because I find the work both challenging and fun. The wide variety of project types to work on keep me sharp and up to date with the latest technologies. As an employee, I enjoy the fact that I'm allowed to learn from my mistakes and actually make mistakes. Perfection is desired however it isn't expected for every endeavor. Many other companies only expect 100% perfection the first go around. I find that my manager allows me a fair amount of autonomy regarding projects and their direction however they are always there if advice is needed. Generally, they are also very knowledgable of the projects they manage. I also feel my fellow employees are knowledgable and I always find myself in engaging conversations regarding software development. Many of my "ah ha" moments have stemmed from the conversations I've had with fellow employees. Without this collaboration and conversations, I would most likely have taken longer to come to a solution.
Cons
I feel that management sometimes doesn't exactly get it right regarding what the employees want however they are quick to rectify their mistakes. Sometimes expectations on how I'm being evaluated as an employee is unclear so it is difficult for me to improve upon myself. Being a full-time employee, I'm still expected to clock in and out as if I were not a full time employee. This translates to almost zero flexibility regarding work hours.
