Pros
Love love helping customers find a tea they really enjoy and showing them cool things to do with it. If you are very passionate about tea culture like myself, then this is a wonderful job! You get to enjoy free tea (drinks, not loose leaf) If you get 20hrs a week, they pay 100% for college and insurance.
Cons
Not allowed to tell customers benefits of tea. $9 an hour and 1% commission. You sell $500 you get $5 at the end of the month. Not allowed to use discounts on Breville items. (Breville is $250) Nobody ever gets 20hrs a week. (I am scheduled maybe 2-3 shifts every 2 weeks. That is barely $200 a month) 90% of my coworkers HATE tea and have no reason to be working there. Starbucks is making Teavana "Hip" and "Cool" and taking away the heart and soul of the original organization. I have had several customers tell me they will not come back because it is overpriced now compared to before, (starbucks drastically increased the prices) and the people are now pushy to upselling and not helpful or knowledgeable about tea at all, going so far as making up lies to sell a tea.
