Pros

Dogs at work. Some very concerned and nice people. Flexible work schedule.

Cons

Upper management is a cabal desperately trying to protect their well paid jobs and the emperor who has no clothes (the CEO). It is a nonprofit that is falling apart and falling into debt. Mismanagement and duplicity is rampant and the organization digging itself into a hole of complexities. The CEO is a tech guru soothsayer who needs complexity to protect her mantle of authority. Complexity is the enemy of transparency and execution, both of which are severely lacking at TechSoup. It once had a great thing going for it, they were a middle man that collected software (and funds) from the big tech companies and gave away the software for free or cheeply to nonprofits who couldn't afford. The middle man is no longer needed and big tech is beginning to cut TechSoup out of the equation. Except for Facebook, which would LOVE to get their dirty hands on the private data of nonprofits around the world. TechSoup is so desperate for big tech support they that they are willfully ignoring Facebooks human rights and privacy violations and pushing Facebook products onto nonprofits; and they claim they support a civil society? If you care about ethics, your sanity, and health then stay away from TechSoup.

We want you to know we appreciate you for sharing your comments as an employee at TechSoup. Thank you for taking the time to share the broader view of TechSoup, including the pros and cons. It is always our goal to be as transparent as possible, which means sharing at staff meetings, in team meetings, in 1:1s, and via open door policies with managers, our People and Culture team, and available suggestions boxes. It’s not always easy though for everyone to have the same and equal information. Sometimes, that’s about privacy and secure information. Sometimes, that’s because we haven’t quite gotten it right. We are committed to learning and improving the ways that we communicate with our colleagues in offices around the world. We also want to clearly respond to your comment about falling into debt. We have intentionally decided to raise growth capital funds through a variety of mechanisms, including selling debt securities through an SEC qualified Direct Public Offering. This is a deliberate strategy on our part to raise funds to build toward our strategic vision. The rationale for that is available as public filing documents and, in a more narrative fashion, as a series of blog posts. We -- and our board -- feel good about this decision. We’ve long operated with the idea that we focus on capacity building and resources distribution for our community. It’s at the core of the way we’ve set up the TechSoup Global Network. It underpins our work with companies around the world to offer donated and discounted products to NGOs. We decided to raise funds in a way that created a return for our community as well. Again, that you for taking the time to comment. This helps us learn the places we can improve. We appreciate it. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Work life balance and some tireless colleagues

Cons

No direction whatsoever. Chasing CEO's half baked ideas to produce very little of value. Using tech that is decades old and trying to be an authority on nonprofit tech. They give "promotions", which for them means no pay increase but taking on the work of someone who quit.
