Pros

Excellent health benefits, great co-workers, good supervisors, excellent schedule with most holidays off, 1 hour lunch, mostly free range to work as you please as long as you can keep your caseload under control

Cons

Very stressful, caseload expectations are difficult to handle with little to no help depending on the unit you're in. Senior Mgmt is good, they have a good open door policy, but given it is a Govt job, suggestions for change are largely ignored due to it more or less taking an act of Congress, DDS, or a Commissioner to make any true impacting changes. Often changes do come through that make your job more difficult. And even if these changes fail to achieve whatever goal DDS wanted, they're glacially slow to reverse the policy or alter it. There is very limited opportunity to advance, promotions are based on seniority rather then merit, and it shows is come areas.

Pros

Good work-life balance, great pay, excellent leadership and great people. TN State Government invests in employee development much more than any other company I have worked for.

Cons

Sometimes things move slowly due to red-tape.
