      Pros

      I love serving TN and working to make the state an employer of choice. Incredibly organized, cutting edge employment practices, including a performance based employment model (not tenure!) and pay for performance bonuses. This is a place where you can live your job, be developed, and advance!

      Cons

      Government does have checks and balances and structured processes, which can take some getting used to for those coming from private industry.

      8-4:30 M-F schedule Easy to take time off Front load PTO to make managing time off easier Hybrid work schedule

      - Minimal accountability - Pay is well below national average - Pay for Performance standards are near impossible to “exceed expectations” - Double standards is the standard - Promotions are slow, so don’t expect to move up fast
