      Pros

      My experience with the State of TN was a positive. In June of 2013 the state downsized the maintenance staff statewide to out side contractor. My position was eliminated. However, I was able to gain knowledge of equipment and systems and set up a Preventative Maintenance program that worked very well.

      Cons

      The only con is that the RIF cost me my position. Otherwise the State is a good employer.

      8-4:30 M-F schedule Easy to take time off Front load PTO to make managing time off easier Hybrid work schedule

      - Minimal accountability - Pay is well below national average - Pay for Performance standards are near impossible to “exceed expectations” - Double standards is the standard - Promotions are slow, so don’t expect to move up fast
