      State Retirement benefits are ok

      Cons

      The workload is massive. State employees are not paid nearly enough. Shelby County has management issues. Also, over the state, there is pay differential and state policy is left up to too much interpretation.

      Pros

      Good work-life balance, great pay, excellent leadership and great people. TN State Government invests in employee development much more than any other company I have worked for.

      Sometimes things move slowly due to red-tape.

      8-4:30 M-F schedule Easy to take time off Front load PTO to make managing time off easier Hybrid work schedule

      Cons

      - Minimal accountability - Pay is well below national average - Pay for Performance standards are near impossible to “exceed expectations” - Double standards is the standard - Promotions are slow, so don’t expect to move up fast
