Pros
Decent health insurance, consistent work schedule
Cons
Extremely poor management of the Vital Records Office made this job absolutely miserable. The Director is a nice person, but is run by the power hungry, racist, close-minded "assistant directors"/managers below him. The most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. Pay is also incredibly poor for the workload and the drama you have to endure. (To be fair, pay grades are out of the control of the Director/Assistant Directors.) The mismanagement of the office led to records requests being VERY behind - as in, it could take you 6 months just to get a copy of your birth certificate - which did not result in fixing the underlying logistical issues, but instead just put more work on an already overworked office.
