Pros
Open culture, really innovative especially in these challenging days where we have competition from new entrants who we know have an inferior product but of course marketing is giving them traction.
Cons
Too much experimenting, there seems to be a feeling that the old folks don't know much or caused issues. However, I believe they gave good advice but were taken as an adversary instead of working together to fix issues in the past. I believe we need to bridge the gap between our core technology (SQL Engine) and how we are making it cloud ready. Some times it feels the guys working for cloud enablement and those who know how Teradata works are sitting in silos. The cloud people decide something and implement it without knowing how it impacts the working of the platform. We keep hearing consulting is the key, which I personally is, but then we don’t see effective investment in building consulting. We need to have patience and wait for the stuff we broke to heal instead of making too quick changes and not giving things time to take effect. At times it also seems that the other regions need to do what AMS has done, what works in one market might not in others.
