Low pay, with expectations to give generously to the university; heavy workload; lack of student accountability from the university; disorganization and poor communication across the campus; consistent last-minute changes with expectation for faculty to react on a dime; confusion of students; apathy from veteran faculty and staff

Family oriented environment where most of the staff are alumni and/or close-knit

Cons

Processes are antiquated but this is due to the historic underfunding of HBCUs. Unprofessionalism runs rampant and there is not much being done about it. A lot of the individuals in leadership are poorly qualified and have only moved up because they have been with the institution for a long time. gossip and drama run rampant throughout the entire institution and there's poor accountability amongst leadership. No one actually works hard or has much diligence. It's much less of a university and more like a social club. The system is broken and it damages the reputation of the institution because students who are underserved and don't have much guidance come there looking for an opportunity to gain credentials but the university produces poor outcomes as result of high turnover in administration and
