Pros
Very good gob security. Full benefits package. None of the typical industry/service rat race problems you find in the private sector.
Cons
Position and salary growth growth can be painfully slow but it is consistent. The university departments that are there to support employees hearts are in the right place but they have the same problems as a company that is much smaller in size. General disorganization, not knowing enough about their job to fully support you, underpaid. it is a typical state job but i think they do care about you when you can get their full attention.
