My department was good, but health benefits are minimal. - Graduate Assistant Texas Tech University Employee Review

Pros

Good people and a mostly caring community. Flexible with accommodating special needs. Faculty are well connected to give students recommendations after graduation.

Cons

Disorganized and slow administration. Departments vary in quality. Health benefits are marginal. To give an example, the university's dental plan was accepted by only four providers in the city (population 225K). Of these, only two were accepting new patients. Of those two, a quick Google search revealed that one had pending felony charges for assaulting a former employee. That leaves only one dentist to choose from. His office was run entirely by assistants and I never even met him.

Pros

The job itself isn't very demanding, if you have a general knowledge of computers/IT, you'll do fine.

Cons

the only con is whenever there's big waves of accounts or specific times of the year, it can get pretty busy.
