Pros
Worked there for 26 years. The pay was excellent, the benefits were good. The work was interesting and they spared no expense providing the tools needed to do the job.
Cons
Whenever layoff time comes ( and it does come every couple years) the first people to go are the older workers. On a Monday I received my usual excellent performance review, the next day I was told my position, along with 184 others in Hunt Valley, was being eliminated due to lack of work. However, there was plenty of work for the new employees in my department who were making half of what I was. In 26 years there in the manufacturing division I never saw one retirement party. Management spends more time making (bogus) charts and graphs and going to meetings than actually walking the shop floor and getting input from employees. They are top heavy with jobs that have fancy titles and fat salaries, but no apparent relevance. Lots of people there are related to each other, and if you want to last make sure you buddy up to your supervisor. They used to promote from within, but since Textron took over AAI has become a lifeboat for Textron employees from their failing divisions.
