The Broad Institute

Engaged Employer

I worked in isolation with few guidelines and no overall vision for growth and excellence in software development. - Software Engineer The Broad Institute Employee Review

Pros

Working in support of genomics research is fulfilling because of its potential in understanding human disease.

Cons

Communication of requirements was poor, it was difficult to talk directly to end users who were, in fact, internal to the company. Legacy systems were supported in perpetuity. New systems seemed to be adopted only when consensus was reached, and not selected by a decision maker with a clear vision of system requirements.

Pros

Benefits, such as PTO and health, are fantastic.

Cons

A pro and a con are there are rarely set ways to do things. You can pave your own way, but others could be paving a way to the same destination and just creating more paths when it would be better to work together.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We love that you feel the autonomy to pave your own way here, and recognize that also can present its own challenge with duplicating efforts.
