Pros

I get to apply my computer science and analysis skills to moving science forward and even helping to diagnose patients. My work is novel and challenging. All our group's work is open source, and I feel good about sharing with the community. I like the variety of the tasks I work on: some coding, some analysis, some writing. There are a lot of career development and general educational enrichment programs. The people I work with are wonderful!

Cons

Slightly lower pay than working in industry.

Pros

Benefits, such as PTO and health, are fantastic.

Cons

A pro and a con are there are rarely set ways to do things. You can pave your own way, but others could be paving a way to the same destination and just creating more paths when it would be better to work together.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We love that you feel the autonomy to pave your own way here, and recognize that also can present its own challenge with duplicating efforts.
