Pros

I work in Broad's Genomics Platform, which is run a little more like a business than the rest of Broad's nonprofit research-based work. Great benefits, better people.

Cons

Higher ups demand efficiency and productivity, which is fine, except the ways the ask for it to be reported are often time-consuming and innefficient, leading to decreasedd production. An unwillingness to invest in talented, experienced workers. You can give 100% for years and they'll keep dangling the carrot that is a promotion/raise above your head, saying that if you really want it, you'd prove it by working harder, as if you hadn't been doing that already. Short-sighted vision from management. Not many avenues for advancement without a science background. Promotions are often based on obedience and flattery, rather than merit.

Pros

Benefits, such as PTO and health, are fantastic.

Cons

A pro and a con are there are rarely set ways to do things. You can pave your own way, but others could be paving a way to the same destination and just creating more paths when it would be better to work together.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We love that you feel the autonomy to pave your own way here, and recognize that also can present its own challenge with duplicating efforts.
