Pros

You learn a lot about sales and how to sell from working here (and if you have a good manager). It was a good learning experience for me and I feel comfortable going into other jobs that require a lot of communication with customers. The employee discount was pretty from the only thing I really enjoyed while working there.

Cons

Drama between employees. I wasn't involved, but since all of the employees were girls, there was sure to be drama and typical girl behavior between employees. The managers did seem to pick favorites based on who they got along with the most, not on who was the better employee. You're put in a lot of uncomfortable situations. You are really pushed to make sales and push customers to buy as much as possible. However, when a customer just really wants to be left alone or a customer doesn't speak english and your manager is staring at you like you are doing something wrong, you feel a bit uncomfortable.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
