Pros
If you are able to work your way up and gel with the internal politics it is a good place for you. Just remember your humanity while you are in pursuit of greatness. This industry and this company will not go under in the near future. They are resilient and will figure out how to succeed. Great pay and benefits (if you last long enough to see them). Most benefits dont even start until 1 year in. No issues with being disrespected or feeling unsafe. No unwanted advances or physical endangerment. A bare minimum but worth noting. A select few people are amazing and so kind. Great stepping stone on the way somewhere. Dont try to move up very far - Property Manager is about the highest I would recommend going safely.
Cons
If you are hired externally into any managerial position you will have a target on your back from day 1. Absolutely no way to succeed unless you can quickly become a shark. Ask around and see how many people who have lasted a year were not an internal promotion. When I left, I could count on one hand the number of external hires who have lasted past 2 years in the corporate office. If you are hired at an entry/mid level, you will have an easier time, just dont make enemies with your superiors or upper management. If a department is understaffed your needs wont be met from them. You may end up on a team/dept. that is eventually understaffed because they fire much faster than they hire. They will talk about you behind your back. And in front of it. Possibly-likely-yell if you work at the main office. Honestly would not recommend if you dont know what you are getting into. Make sure to talk to people who know the company before making your decision. If you are coming from out of town/out of state, do not make the decision without opening your eyes to everything. Their reputation speaks for themselves. If you are unsure and need stability, I would not recommend. It is a pretty huge gamble whether or not you'll make the 1 year cut. If you cannot afford to be let go suddenly (without warning or severance) absolutely dont take the job. Dont get bought by a shiny promise of a salary. Over 50% of new employees are gone within the first two years, most in the first year. The only people who stay have been there a long time and are going nowhere.
