Pros
Most of the reviews for The Computer Hut on this site are from former employees which one might expect to be negative based on the circumstances of their departure. Allow me to offer a different perspective. I have been happily employed by The Computer Hut for over three years. Everyone, both admin and technical staff, work well together in a usually pleasant but fast-paced environment. If all of the technical staff are engaged, the CEO is not above "getting his hands dirty" and grabbing a firewall or switch that needs to be installed at client site. This is a rarity in business today. Salaries are competitive in the Little Rock market. Benefits are above average. Insurance (hospitalization, dental, vision) are partially paid by the company, an employer-matching IRA is available, there is a liberal PTO policy, and off-site team building social events are scheduled quarterly.
Cons
One past con, which was recognized and is being addressed by the company, is the growing pains experienced by any growing company. In the past we have had people in positions in which they were not necessarily a good fit. Today, everyone seems to be well-positioned and management has hired an excellent Director of Operations. Unlike the past, by not having a technical background he is able to focus on the operation as a whole without involving himself in the technical side of the business. Sometimes the hours can be quite long, especially for salaried techs. However, this is just the nature of the IT industry. If you are looking for a 9-to-5 job, IT just might not be the right place for you.
