I used to think getting recognized was a good thing. I learned at Emmes, that getting recognized just means more mindless work. I would not have cared if I was given more meaningful work, but I had no passion for the work, it was all very tedious, and I was ready to pull my hair out by the end of the work-day. After handling the workload of 2 people for a whole year, I was rewarded with a sub-par raise (something like 2.4%). That was my sign to look elsewhere.
