Does great work in community; with a side of toxic staff culture. - Anonymous employee The Guidance Center Employee Review

Pros

Compelling mission. Well established company that is respected in the community. Solid core values and very kind C-suite. Opportunities to train and move around within the company. Company matching 401k and good benefits. There are a lot of staffers that have been here for, like, ever.

Cons

There is also a ton of staff turnover. Microaggressions were served up frequently, to the point they had to make a policy about it. Some very unfortunate middle management appointees have been known to trash-talk entire demographics of people (e.g. people with severe mental illness, people with substance use disorders, people on government insurance) that they supposedly serve. (Along the lines of, 'they just need to try harder.') A union that purports to speak up for workers but has failed to advocate for inclusion when it conflicted with The Guidance Center's rigid policies and/or upper management point of view. Outdated modes of operation and a depressingly dull work environment. Not gonna make a ton of money working here.
