Pros
Good learning opportunities and opportunities for rotations, etc. One gets to work alongside highly motivated and very intelligent employees. Most people are happy to be working there. The Hartford is a good corporate citizen, and it's easy to feel propud of the work they are doing for the community.
Cons
Very competitive for promotions and politics permeates the work environment. This can lead to bad feelings among staff. There is a good deal of awareness (too much?) against the company down the street. Sometimes the best and brightest aren't the best "natural" managers. The company is possessive of its successful franchises, but can be slow to respond in the marketplace. They appear to be less innovative than other companies.
