Pros

Good pay and career development. Awesome coworkers for the most part. Pleasant work environment. Open posting for jobs. Training opportunities. Fair bonus program. Free parking.

Cons

In recent years, The Hartford seems to have lost its way. In days past, they were constantly looking for team players--people who would work well together, be civil to one another and management who would try to shine a bright light on situations and stand behind their people. In the past few years they have brought in all manner of meglomaniacs, many of whom sound a little bit smart at first but after a while you begin to realize they haven't a clue what they're doing and that their first priority is THEM, not the company. It's people like this in their Investment area that almost brought the company totally down in the latter part of 2008. As it is, the company is currently on its knees. But the jerks in exec positions and the foreign hiring/outsourcing to save a buck remains. The really great people though, the ones with intelligence and real vision are long gone. The fools remain at the helm, with more joining daily. It is just not a nice place anymore.

Pros

Great benefits, amazing PTO starting off, company promotes inclusivity and promotion from within.

Cons

The leadership structure seems too complicated. Soooo many team leads. Certain lines of business do not have options for switching teams if you do not get along with your manager.
