Pros
One of best reasons for working at the Hartford is that they are really good at hiring recent college grads. In a time period of my job search when the best offers I was receiving were from the Gap or the Body Shop, this was a foot in the door at a Fortune 100 company. I think overall, the company is large enough and stable enough that it is worth taking the time to get acquainted with the products is helpful, because almost every other position in the company builds upon what you've learned. I may have a job being on the phones all day, but I have my Series 6 and will hopefully be moving within the company at some point.
Cons
What I became the most frustrated with working for the Hartford is the lack of organization and specifying objectives when it comes to job descriptions. When I first began at the Hartford, I was told that after being there for a year people are usually promoted and that there was no formal process. The year after I started, they suddenly were coming up with a more defined process for promotion and since it was so "new" they weren't promoting people like they were before. The objectives are not defined any clearer than they were before and it is still up to the discretion of a bosses' boss.
