Great brand, but don't let that fool you. - Retail Sales Representative The Hershey Company Employee Review

Pros

Company Car, Pay, 401K, iPad (perks are great at first...however they aren't worth it in the long run)

Cons

-Working in Walmarts for 7hrs a day. At the end of the day you feel like you are an overpaid Walmart employee. Not only checking for distribution, you are in the backrooms of stores fighting to get product on the floor. Once you get the space, you must do all the labor. Management will tell you "get the store to move product for you" but that is unrealistic and only happens sometimes. At the end of the day, Walmart will look at you as free labor. Even with all of the consultative selling tactics, the stores will want your help getting the product out. -Was told when taking the job I wouldn't be moving product. -During seasons you will pack out product All. Day. Long. -Management wants you to be the CEO of your territory, but then they tell you how long to be in each store, how long your drive time should be between each store and expect 1 hr of admin time a week to be enough to get planning done for your calls. -Very cut throat and will throw people on the team under the bus as a tactic to motivate others. -Feels like management is building a small army and they want each person to fit the same mold. If you are thinking about taking this job ask yourself: do I want to have a box cutter on my hip, moving product all day long (store after store), be in the backroom of Walmarts using pallet jacks, fighting with store managers to see things your way, feel like a cheese ball using consultative selling all day...

Pros

Hybrid work (currently) allowed. Employee candy store and a (small) discount for Chocolate World

Cons

The company fired and outsourced to India 100s of American employees causing a direct impact on the local economy and nearly destroying their families. This is not a large town and being the largest non-Healthcare company in the area carries a responsibility that the board and executive level have failed to uphold. This is NOT the legacy that Milton would have liked to see his company become. Absolute downward tailspin in the IT space. After the outsourcing nearly every single employee in IT to India using one of the "consulting" firms to save money its going how you would expect. Lowest morale I've ever seen here, and I've been here a long time, people are looking for a new job to get out of the now toxic environment. The new C and Executive levels from Pepsi and Amazon are clueless about what is happening on the ground. Technical debt is piling up, projects are at a stand still and several quarters behind schedule, the infrastructure is not being maintained, outages and time to repair are increasing. The few people that are left and care about this legacy are stuck working endless hours cleaning up what little they can of the mess that the outsourcing firm has created. Exact same issues at FedEx, if you know their problems then beware. Story as old as outsourcing has been. New C level comes in, says he can save company money, outsources American jobs, vests his golden parachute, and then leaves. The employees are stuck holding the bag.
