Pros
You get to work with many cross functional teams and make an impact on the business. This is one of the few roles where an analyst reports to a director (aka a merchant) instead of a manager. In my current dept, all of the merchants are awesome. The merchant will help you move on to a role best suited for you once you are in seat for 2 years. Work life balance is somewhat decent but that all depends on who your merchant is and how busy your workload is.
Cons
Very demanding job at times, many thing thrown at you, new fires every day, underpaid compared to the market. Your work life depends on your merchant. 2 year commitment before applying to other roles in the company. I do wish there is a bit more diversity amongst the analysts in the dept. No longer hybrid
