      Pros

      The Jackson lab has been rated among 10 best post-doc employers in US. Based on my experiences, Jackson lab totally deserves this honor. The supporting personels here are very capable and friendly. The scientific service is excellent, which is especially important for researchers like me . The town where Jackson lab is located is Bar Harbor, right beside the famous Acadia National Park. If you like hiking, camping , this is absolutely the right place for you.

      Cons

      Maine has a very small population. During the winter season, there are only 5000 people here. So this is not for you if you like metropolitan life style.

      Pros

      Good pay and benefits are decent

      Cons

      Long commutes with tight time accountability due to newer rules. No more leniency for weather or traffic related tardiness that is common in Maine. Constantly changing rules and expectations are making the job impossible. Failure to meet new expectations lead to no finishes or raises or tuition reimbursement. Forced overtime in Ellsworth location with so.e employees being sent from Bar Harbor to cover. Seems like a sinking ship and I would not recommend anyone I liked for a job here.
