Pros

None really come to mind from a company and cultural perspective. While the size of the organisation was appealing, this also showed in the lack of maturity, engagement and processes. Many of the engineering guys and security analysts (red / blue team) are quite knowledgeable and dedicated (but often with no extra financial incentive). If you are a grad hacker or an international starter looking to start out it may be your thing, but if you have any level of corporate experience in medium to large organisations, you will be frustrated - despite the upfront “sell”.

Cons

What seemed like a good idea at time, ultimately led to a disaster. Looking back in hindsight and a forerunner of things to come, was that they actually tried to negotiate the agreed salary package down which I found odd. Eventually we agreed on the minimum starting position, but made me wary on what they will “skimp” on later Ironically, later discovered that the whole recruitment process (including other candidates) was posted on an open Slack channel - certainly not a good look for a information security company. Being mostly Sydney based, they showed the virtually no empathy and a lack of understanding in employee engagement for remote interstate employees during Covid-19 lockdown who were doing it tough. When employees were being delivered bad news, senior management were gloating how they were getting away for the weekend or holding off on a new collectable car. Immature enterprise level understanding of processes clients may have and “bad-mouthing” them behind their back due to poor internal project management and resource engagement. Found that there was sometimes complex arrangement between their general infrastructure and security businesses - which are separate. Discovered relative to company size, there was relatively high staff turnover across all areas. You were “encouraged” to help vote for industry trade awards, which are generally decided upon sponsorship fees and number of tables bought at award nights.
