Pros

Fun and vibrant atmosphere, thanks to the office redesign and all of the non-work related activities planned for employees to enjoy. Great group of employees, we enjoy a lot of camaraderie in the office. We can also really rely on each other to pitch in and help each other out when needed, very much a "team oriented" atmosphere. Flexible hours (including shortened summer Fridays) and the ability to work from home when needed allows employees a variety of working options. Interesting client base and exciting projects to work on. We offer such a variety of services for our clients that we really get to see and be involved in many aspects of their programs. Strong support from company for training and education for all employees. Dedicated and intelligent management team leading the company to be the best its ever been. Now, more than ever, they are hearing what the employees are saying and taking action to make us all feel that we are heard and they care about what we have to say. We have monthly whole company meetings led by our CEO which provides us all a candid look into what's happening financially and professionally with the company. This also provides us all the chance to interact with our CEO and ask any questions we'd like about the company's performance or other topics. Communication is key here, most managers make it a point to touch base with their direct reports on a monthly basis and career paths and employee goals are discussed and supported. Benefits are pretty standard, but something to note is that time off capacity was recently increased for full time employees in direct response to employees' feedback that we didn't receive enough vacation time.

Cons

I'm sure this is no different than any other company, but there is A LOT of inter-office gossip here. Also, success at this company tends to be linked with an unspoken expectation of working extra hours in the evenings or the weekends with no additional compensation and no clear idea of when/how that might pay off.

Pros

The people and company culture are amazing. The workload can be a little intense sometimes, but Mx takes the extra step to ensure an awesome work environment filled with amazing people. I felt a great deal of support, not just in day-to-day activities but career growth as well, especially from my managers. I never felt dumb asking questions. There was always someone willing to help. I felt like I was truly part of a team.

Cons

A typical workday is very meeting-heavy making focus time difficult to come by.

Pros

MX Group has talented individual contributors, but the agency is weighed down by stagnant leadership and a culture that discourages innovation. Much of upper and middle management has remained in place for well over a decade, and it shows. There’s very little fresh thinking, limited professional evolution, and an overwhelming sense of complacency that has slowly filtered through the organization. The leadership culture feels extremely risk-averse. Sandbagging is common, and employees are encouraged to protect themselves rather than push boundaries or experiment with new ideas. Outside-the-box thinking is often punished unless it originates directly from senior leadership, which creates an environment where creativity and initiative are stifled instead of rewarded. The office culture itself feels dated and overly rigid. There’s an intense clock-watching mentality that makes the environment feel more like a call center than a modern digital agency. For a company branding itself around Chicago talent and innovation, the location and atmosphere feel disconnected from that identity. Compensation is below industry averages for many roles, though benefits are acceptable. The company would benefit greatly from healthy turnover and the introduction of new perspectives, modern best practices, and leadership willing to embrace change. Unfortunately, the current culture seems resistant to exactly that. The CEO works hard, but the leadership style often feels out of place for a modern digital agency. Ultimately, the company feels stuck between what it once was and what it needs to become. Without meaningful cultural and leadership evolution, the long-term outlook feels concerning. P.S. - There is a silent/ private acknowledgement that the overwhelming majority of employees want out, but have a difficult time landing new roles as they continue to waste away at MX.

Cons

Virtually everything, besides a few select employees
