Pros

The Mx Group is the only place I've worked where team leaders/supervisors are so involved with your career development. It is evident that that they invest in their employees and their career path. If there's something that needs to change, we can voice our ideas for solutions and work to make it better. We have monthly one-on-one meetings with supervisor to check in on goals and gives another chance to offer feedback/observations. Also, we have monthly team meetings to share current projects, tips and tricks for organization and efficient workflow. Our clients have so many different needs and services. No day is the same — there's always a different project to tackle. Not only are my coworkers forward thinking and intuitive, they are fun and like to hang out with outside of work. They truly are interested in you as a person — they're like my extended family. There are fun activities and contests, too — food trucks, office Olympics, baking/cooking competitions, to name a few! We have flexible hours for doctor/service appointments. Recently, PTO has been increased for every year completed. This change came about after we were surveyed to see what we would like to see improved. This is also not a once and awhile thing...our management and team leaders are always looking to us to see what can be done to make this the best place to work.

Cons

Client feedback and revisions sometimes arrive late in the day, then making overtime necessary to meet deadlines. However, the extra time never goes unnoticed by the account team or my direct supervisors. I always feel valued and acknowledged for putting in extra time.

Pros

The people and company culture are amazing. The workload can be a little intense sometimes, but Mx takes the extra step to ensure an awesome work environment filled with amazing people. I felt a great deal of support, not just in day-to-day activities but career growth as well, especially from my managers. I never felt dumb asking questions. There was always someone willing to help. I felt like I was truly part of a team.

Cons

A typical workday is very meeting-heavy making focus time difficult to come by.

Pros

MX Group has talented individual contributors, but the agency is weighed down by stagnant leadership and a culture that discourages innovation. Much of upper and middle management has remained in place for well over a decade, and it shows. There’s very little fresh thinking, limited professional evolution, and an overwhelming sense of complacency that has slowly filtered through the organization. The leadership culture feels extremely risk-averse. Sandbagging is common, and employees are encouraged to protect themselves rather than push boundaries or experiment with new ideas. Outside-the-box thinking is often punished unless it originates directly from senior leadership, which creates an environment where creativity and initiative are stifled instead of rewarded. The office culture itself feels dated and overly rigid. There’s an intense clock-watching mentality that makes the environment feel more like a call center than a modern digital agency. For a company branding itself around Chicago talent and innovation, the location and atmosphere feel disconnected from that identity. Compensation is below industry averages for many roles, though benefits are acceptable. The company would benefit greatly from healthy turnover and the introduction of new perspectives, modern best practices, and leadership willing to embrace change. Unfortunately, the current culture seems resistant to exactly that. The CEO works hard, but the leadership style often feels out of place for a modern digital agency. Ultimately, the company feels stuck between what it once was and what it needs to become. Without meaningful cultural and leadership evolution, the long-term outlook feels concerning. P.S. - There is a silent/ private acknowledgement that the overwhelming majority of employees want out, but have a difficult time landing new roles as they continue to waste away at MX.

Cons

Virtually everything, besides a few select employees
