Pros

Better treatment of graduate employees than I've seen at other institutions Departmental teaching support can vary, but in many humanities departments, teaching supervisors offer great support Quarter system teaching load is reasonable

Cons

Biased treatment of "favorite" graduate student employees No summer employment in many departments Health benefits not extended for summer months without out-of-pocket payment from unemployed GTAs Teaching experience outside of academia is not valued Unclear picture of what will happen to GTAships on semester system

Pros

Great work life balance and accessible management

Cons

There are not many cons to working with the university except the pay was slightly lower than other competitive wages.

Pros

Many resources available for various types of studies

Cons

Unless your PI is tapped into the research community, the resources are spread out and difficult to find. The overall support from the University to PIs is limited. Those individuals in positions of authority are more concerned with their own optics than with supporting those who need it.
