Pros
Ohio State provides outstanding benefits -- including the great tuition benefit. They are very pro professional development too, so they are invested in your career advancement. Flexible work environment -- every one worked hard so it wasn't so much about the hours in seats. It was great being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share a common desire to work for a worthy cause -- education!
Cons
An employee's experience varies a great deal depending on the Unit you work in (an Administrative Unit vs. a College) and then the type of position you have (classified vs. unclassified). Some Units have more resources than others, which can drastically change your work environment. It is also a bureaucratic institution. If you want a place that is fast-paced, this is not it. You have to be there awhile to start to know the people and the politics and discover the informal power networks and communication channels. Over time, you will know what is going on and will be able to more successfully navigate through the organization.
