Pros
Fosters a very friendly and casual work environment. Co-workers and those you serve can be very kind and accommodating... if nothing is wrong. Work with these people long enough and they almost start to feel like family. Also, your health care benefits are probably the best you'll ever find.
Cons
There are few opportunities for advancement and even less encouragement to better your skills. A change in position is very often horizontal... at least for those of us in the lower ranks. Also, any mistakes you make are rarely tolerated and overly emphasized compared to your contributions. The other 'benefits' you receive for working at OSU are superficial at best. Sports ticket discounts are negligible. You're actually better off selling your tickets to make money... that is if you're lucky enough to get any. And parking? Don't get me started. OSU may quote you a great salary when you're hired, but you know there are going to be taxes... that's just a given. Any other job would give you a parking pass because after all, they need you (their employee) to operate. OSU makes you pay hundreds of dollars to park, or perhaps thousands if you want to be anywhere close to your building. Parking is a con job at the very best.
