Pros
Ohio State is a great place to work in most areas. The benefits are fantastic and there is a lot of opportunity for growth. They allow employees to take 10 credit hours per quarter for free which is a terrific benefit just by itself. Working with students from all over th world is a great way to become more culturally literate. The university offers so much for employees to take advantage of from sporting events to cultural events, and classes. There are tons of "lifers" there which says a lot about the work environment.
Cons
On the other hand, the university is so large that there are many different climates and cultures. I loved the first area that I worked in, but the second area was miserable. In the first area, we had great management, a terrific productive team, and I always wanted to get into work every day to be a part of it. The second area had good managers but poor directors who either never talked to employees or talked down to them when they did. Half the staff was on performance improvement in the second area which seems more to be a reflection of the management rather than the employees.
