Pros
High Salary compensation and good benefits.
Cons
When I was initially hired I was told that billing requirements consisted of 27-28 with client and 7-8 for programming. What they don't tell you is that the 7-8 still need to be completed in person, meaning your ultimate direct hour requirement is 35 A WEEK! BTs: They pretty much hire just about anyone to be an RBT, while screening I had BT's that would hang up on me, would try to join training meetings while at hair salons, etc. I had some people that were showing up an hour late to session, and still billing the original start time (which I don't think was ever corrected even though I brought it up to my clinical supervisor and billing department several times). There were some families that were looking for agencies to switch to, and although they would frequently share wanting time to think about the switch, the company would pretty much force BCBAs to go through the FBA process, often making false promises to these families just to get the contract. You are also not allowed to deny cases if they fall outside of your availability, it felt very much like if I didn't have the billable requirement in cases, then I had to accept everything that they gave me. My quitting Story: Although the provisional period states that it is a time for both the company and employee to ensure that it is the "right" fit, I quickly received a message saying that the BACB ethics code requires at least a 30 day notice and it was unethical for me to leave without providing that. No where in their contract OR the BACB ethics code is that stated. So much for "at will" employment. When you come from an agency that is very research and ethics driven, it is really easy to single out when a company is all about the money. I experienced some of the most unprofessional people in this job, which as a BCBA that loves the field, it is terrible to witness as this is what is giving ABA the bad rep. I shared my concerns various times but they were always brushed away. Ultimately I value my credential more than money.
