Pros

- This company allows you to build your schedule. You can work as little or as much (up to 40 hours) as you like! I work about 25-30 hours a week at 4 days a week and I love it. It still gives me enough free time to pursue other things in my life (i.e. school) - Co-workers and management are all INCREDIBLY NICE and SUPPORTIVE!! Seriously, I came into this as a complete newbie but all their advice, constructive feedback and the positive atmosphere helped me excel and become confident with my clients. It is so refreshing to have a drama-free workplace and one that truly wants their employees to succeed. - The company holds monthly workshops to continue/better your education as a trainer. These are great when I start to feel like my job is “repetitive” or “boring”, management takes the time to teach me how to make the job more enjoyable - You get to wear comfortable/athletic clothes to work! After certification they give you a $150 voucher to get clothes with company logos. - the clients themselves, in every studio, are all so pleasant!! I have a fun time getting to know each and every one of them and it’s very rewarding to see their progress and help clients reach their goals - the program/workout itself is science based and extremely effective. So it’s easy to be behind the company and justify your work because the company genuinely is not trying to scam anyone but rather provide an effective, time efficient and safe workout. - you pretty much work most shifts alone, sometimes one other trainer will be on shift, so the work atmosphere is relaxed and independent which is nice because you’ll never have someone micro managing you or breathing down your neck - your success is based purely on your attitude and willingness to work with the opportunity given. As long as you have a positive attitude and are doing your best the company & management will never negatively criticize you or take hours away - you are allowed to BE YOU when you train!! There is no script to follow; yes you have to count a 10 second cadence to keep clients on track/form BUT your motivational talk, and how you decide to interact or teach clients certain things is up to you with the information you’re given. And no one, not even management, will tell you you’re wrong for “coaching” a certain way. As long as it works for you and your clients you have the freedom to train how you want! - the certification process itself is extremely thorough. They really make sure you know everything about the science of superslow, working with injuries, etc. to set you up for success. And they pay you for it! - you are given small incremental raises (+0.25 to your hourly) if you do educational units, get referrals from clients, have a client lose 10 lbs, etc. so yes...there are ways to increase your pay - they only promote within the company. They never outsource for managers so if you work hard and want to eventually become a studio manager, regional manager, etc. the company will reward you! - if you ever cover a shift at a different studio for another trainer they offer mileage reimbursement to pay for your gas! - they pay you every friday! - they have basic health insurance benefits for anyone who works 30+ hours

Cons

- On the job listing this company markets that the average hourly they pay is $19 because that’s the average of all the trainers within their company (72 studios in the nation). That is only reflective of trainers with FULL daily schedules, lots of traffic/clients and they fail to explain that when you have no clients you only make $9.50-10 an hour - in the beginning, especially when taking over a new studio or empty schedule, pay is very low. It can be as little as $300 a week which is barely enough to survive off of if you are a person with high rent, expenses, have kids, etc. I am lucky that I live rent free and am using this job to give me some income while I prepare for my next step/career in life - it is frustrating to encounter people who don’t sign up or quit when science based evidence is right in front of their faces. You have to learn to not take it so personal when people give up - but for someone who genuinely cares about the health and well being of others it’s hard - Often times it is draining to count to 10 so many times in one day for so many clients. It’s hard to fight the repetitive/bored mindset. When I have a packed schedule and see 16 clients in one day it is draining....more so than you would imagine because you have no time for breaks to eat, drink water, rest your voice, etc. - the 20 minute workout is time efficient but it makes it hard to truly connect with clients and give them a “personal experience” - very small team so you rarely have other trainers to cover your shifts if you get sick, need vacation time, etc. and people often come and go from this company so you see new faces a lot - no paid time off or sick leave, so if you wake up feeling sick one morning you can’t just call off work. You have to show up or cancel on all your clients and result in giving them a free workout next time. - the certification process takes 2 MONTHS...do NOT quit your job in hopes that this will immediately be a new lucrative career. It takes time. The certification process is brutal and long. And it’s only part time (2-3 days a week at $10 an hour) so the pay is VERY low

Thank you for taking the time to provide such great feedback! We are happy to hear that you enjoy your positive coworkers, management team, and working with our clients. You’re right that our management team truly wants you to succeed. We strive to give you the tools to help you grow professionally and personally. Thank you for pointing out that you can be yourself when you train our clients. We focus on hiring employees with such unique and motivating personalities and we want our employees to show their personality to our clients. It helps to build a genuine relationship with them. We hope to keep hiring great people like you to help our clients achieve their goals! You’re right there are several ways to increase your pay. As you mentioned, we offer incremental raises with our Professional Mastery Program. We also offer many bonus opportunities. These include: Staff Referrals, Client Referrals, Nutrition Coaching, etc. Furthermore, our growing company offers many different promotion opportunities. You’re right that our average hourly rate in our company is a little more than $19. Most of our employees that make less than the average are in the certification process. However, unlike other personal training companies, we pay YOU to go through certification. Even when you aren’t training clients, our compensation is very fair compared to other entry level personal training positions in the country.

We’re glad to hear you enjoyed working with clients, valued the onboarding and training program, and had positive relationships with your coworkers—those are all areas we intentionally prioritize. Our compensation structure is designed to support meaningful, consistent engagement with our members. The focus of our model is on helping clients actively use and benefit from their workouts, and roles are structured around delivering that experience rather than transactional outcomes alone.
