Pros
- I've never worked for a company with a healthier people-first culture than this one. They treat you as a human instead of a profit-producing cog in a machine. - The people who work for this company are truly driven to make an impact through continuous improvement. - When you share constructive criticism, you're heard. Your ideas might not be implemented immediately, but if they really are valid, you'll see them move forward with it in time. - No drama here - as I said, it's a really healthy workplace with people who care about each other and work together for the greater good. Ego has no place here. - You will learn a lot - about yourself, personal training/health, and the career path you want to develop. - They invest in and grow their people, and the company/leadership puts their money where their mouth is. If you express interest in a different career path than where you start, they will do their best to reorient your job and career path to become a better fit for your long-term goals. I've never worked with people more invested in supporting each other. - Very flexible hours. - This method is life-changing. I'm so glad we can take advantage of the personal training services we offer because I'm in the best shape and health of my life - in just 20 minutes, twice a week - I don't do anything else! - You work with extremely talented, driven, and creative people. If you like a team and environment where there's constant growth and innovation, this is the place for you. - Faith is a cornerstone of this company - Putting your trust in the people around you to get things done and seeing them fulfill their roles, trusting people to listen to you and accept you as you are, having faith in your own abilities to take on new challenges - all of it based in faith... It's a really rewarding experience working here. - As your career path evolves, they check in with you about job title, pay change, and role responsibilities to ensure you understand and give you a chance to express criticisms or what you'd like to see happen instead of what they propose. (Less on the trainer/experience team side, more on the background/IT/marketing/support side.) - Things change regularly... I personally enjoy a workplace with fresh challenges and ideas on a regular basis so this environment and pace of work is a good fit for me. We make changes regularly to improve processes. - This is a smaller, growing company - In any role here, you have a huge opportunity to influence the course of this company and have a say in what happens.
Cons
- When I was a trainer and Facility Manager in a new region I felt the pay was adequate and fair for my living situation, but for others (especially trainers and Facility Managers in new or slow-growing regions) the short-term pay may not be a good fit for all living situations. I know leadership and management are working to improve this and I think this issue will resolve within the next year or two. If you're dedicated, willing to stick around, and are in it for the long haul, you'll do just fine. - Things change regularly... For some who aren't used to pivoting and changing rapidly, they may have an adjustment period as they get used to the rapid innovation, or this environment and continuous improvement culture might not be a good fit for them. - If you're on a Scrum team, your week may be meeting heavy. But this is something that's improving. - This is a smaller, growing company - If you don't like constant evolution, this company size and niche market might not be for you.
