Overall terrific colleagues, some advancement opportunities, but poor pay - Production Editor II The Sheridan Group Employee Review

Pros

You'll meet people who'll become lifelong friends. So many truly wonderful people here, with a few exceptions, of course. And about half the staff works remotely but not as freelancers--FT staff with all the benefits. The possibility exists to work a shorter work week (i.e., as few as 30 hr), which is an accommodation that some folks might need.

Cons

Training on any given account may not resemble training on any other account; it's all over the map! Reassignments can occur for a variety of reasons, but this can be pleasant; gives one an opportunity to try something new, meet more folks, learn some different styles and read some different material. Both quality and quantity are extremely important at SJS, but because the copyediting provided by various freelancers runs the gamut from poor to nearly perfect, it can sometimes be difficult to balance the two. Pay is very low. That said, benefits are quite good, except the company's match for employees' 401k accounts. Maybe the two balance out?

Pros

Need further review. I keep going back to the group (s) and counted per images of FTE and background.

Cons

Not much diversity. Anyone that goes on their page can see not much if all diversity.
