Pros

30 promised hours, not too much, not too little.

Cons

If I could give this company a lower score than a 0, I would and it still wouldn't be accurate enough. Stepping Stones Group offered me a position on March 16 that paid me $9 more than my current one and promised me full time hours. For over a month I jumped thru all the hoops and they gave me the green light. Then, I was told the district that decided to hire me "over hired" and my job offer was rescinded. The silver lining was that a different school district hired me. I put in a notice, and started on the 27th. After 3 days, I get a phone call from my recruiter saying that I'm terminated b/c I'm "not a good fit." I got absolutely no warnings and no write ups. What's funny is that when I went there to clock in, the receptionist looked all confused and said that there was no record of me being a permanent employee at that high school and that she wasn't familiar with my recruiter. My 6th sense is telling me the same exact thing happened with this district that happened with the previous one. I liked the kid I worked with at my previous job, we bonded and I never would have left my last position had I known SSG would have pulled this. 3 days is not enough time to perform badly enough or be a bad enough fit for the culture for that to be the real reason. Unless I, like, punched someone. I had just began working with the newfound self-esteem, now everything has come crashing down. I finally get a job after waiting over a month after I signed my offer, and then this happens. No one gets fired within 3 days without having screwed up BIG TIME. I find it very strange that there was no warning or reason as to why. Stepping Stone employees make about 8 dollars more than district employees, therefore they’re more expensive to keep. My sixth sense is telling me the financial situation didn't support hiring for my position and the numbers weren't crunched until after I was hired. I got an email saying, “We regret to inform you, your assignment has ended due to performance.” 3 days is too fast to assess performance, so I wasn’t fired for performance. So that’s a straight-out lie, like they hired me and later discovered that they couldn’t afford to pay me, and they decided it was easier to tell me lies instead of the truth. The economy is terrible and jobs are difficult to come by, so it is completely unacceptable to play with my job and my life like that. If the teachers don't like me for whatever reason, I asked if I could work at a different high school in that district, or to be transferred to a different district and she ignored me. I told her it's literally her job to find people jobs.

* Amazing and supportive recruiter * Incredible perks: stipends for professional development, wellness and licensing * W-2 * Highly supportive * Few documentation requirements * Efficient invoicing * Excellent effort to keep you in same district

Cons

* There's no central hub for all of Stepping Stones online resources. It's hard to keep track of where to find various resources, even when bookmarked.

You will work alongside many people who have a passion for special education services, whether you are a provider, admin or recruiter.

Cons

Frequent shifts in the management framework and structure over the last few years. Communication across teams is sometimes met with roadblocks.
