Pros

Flexible schedule is nice, if it works for your job. nice having a cafeteria in the building so you don't have to leave for food

Cons

furloughs, layoffs, pay freezes, weird pay raise criteria, pointless self appraisals, raises that don't match the performance when you do get a raise

Pros

Do to Gannett cutting local journalism as much as it possibly can, the newsroom was stretched thin, meaning I got to do impressive assignments that should have gone to more senior staff if such existed. The Tennessean is the best newspaper in Nashville and will propel you to better future gigs. Use this as a stepping stone.

Cons

The pay is insulting and you will be overworked.
