Pros
chance to make money if you last they do have full benefits starting the first day of a new month after 90 days. they had me start on the 4th so that would have been almost 120 days till they kicked in.
Cons
Horrible job as a commission sales person. I was told in my interview that it was a pure commission with a draw of $500 a week that you don’t have to pay back for the first 6 weeks. This was wrong it is $2000 a month with two pay periods a month and you don’t have any draw your first 3 pay periods. That is a difference of $2000 a year and several hundred your first month if you are not making anything. They said they had no cleaning crew and do everything around the shop. That is fine I have spent 30 minutes to an hours helping keep the store clean each day at other sales jobs. What I have not done is come in for my whole second week and be expected to break into a hard sweat moving tile around the shop for 7 hours out of 9 with an hour for lunch. Not to mention they only want you to talk to someone if you greet them at the front door and get yelled at if you talk to someone in the store so while I am moving tile in the back of the store breaking a sweat I have no chance to see anyone coming in no chance to talk to anyone or make anything above the base they want to pay that can be less than minimum wage when they schedule you for 55 hours in the week and the pay period can be 15 to 16 days long. They expect you to come in and work as an hourly employee for the most part moving tile cleaning and doing whatever they say when you only actually get paid for talking to and sell customers. They are also horrible about protecting you or even letting you follow up with the customers that you do talk to and since most people need to come in multiple times its more of a grab as many people as you can walking in to see who may be buying today. You could not even put quotes in the system for fear of other tile shop stores undercutting your quote or stealing your customer. It was a joke to the point in the manual after they hire you as a commissioned sales person they say they want to abolish that term from the company work place. No one else that worked their with me had ever been a retail commission sales person and there is a reason why stay away.
