Pros

Terrific mission, and the brand is only growing. Attracting world-class talent in all corners. Deep-pocketed owner sets this newspaper apart.

Cons

Benefits are improving but still not great. Mantra of constant self-disruption stokes anxiety. That said, despite the frequent hype of a runway for experimentation and innovation, my desk/team found the tarmac to be closed off. Publisher is an empty suit with a 1,000-watt smile.

Pros

Supporting journalism is the one good thing.

Cons

The culture needs improvement, with a strict in-office policy that may not work well for everyone. There also seems to be ongoing challenges with employee retention, which can impact team morale, consistency, and long-term stability. The tech guild and unions made me feel really uncomfortable with coworkers protesting outside the office.
