Pros

Flexible schedule, enjoy working with members, nice to have a job that’s not at a desk all day, close to home

Cons

Management is awful. Communication is awful. Pay is not great. Equipment is old. Got ideas and thoughts on new things to do or at least try? Good luck. Have questions about who is in charge of what? Take a look at this organizational chart from 2024 and good luck figuring it out. Have expectations of constructive criticism, opportunity for education and growth, or clear direction? Then this is not the place for you. It’s a damn shame, really. So many good people have worked there and left because it’s toxic, unprofessional, and gets to be unbearable. Every community should have a strong Y who lives up to the vision and mission, unfortunately, this one is really limping along.

Pros

Excellent opportunities to connect with folks from different backgrounds, communities, etc. Wonderful opportunities to learn, and continue to learn important skills such life saving skills. Opportunities to help people in the community. Lasting impact on people for a lifetime

Cons

Inconsistency, favoritism, constant change no one can keep up with, no empathy, no respect, no communication, toxic work environment, enabling the behavior of others while requiring regular trainings on work place harassment and actions that don’t match the company mission of healthy mind body and spirit.
