Pros
Mission statement is strong and unique. You will most likely be successful in the FR role if you work alongside an experienced adviser every day. Good opportunities to be involved with in the community if you work for Thrivent.
Cons
"Being your own boss" is really what it sounds like in this business. You have to invest your own money ($3k min - coffees, lunches, nice work attire, business supplies) early on in order to grow your practice. You need grit and motivation every day to work in this 100% commission based job. There is disconnect from the home office and field. Trying to build a relationship with the home phone simply over the phone versus in person didn't sit right with me. Be ready to call your friends and family and have them agree to sit down with you and have a financial planning discussion. This sales process was uncomfortable. Thrivent NEEDS to invest more dollars in their technology. Had an issue with BYOD every day and experienced slow and "frozen" screens often -- had to reset computer and/or retry links multiple times on home website. Frustrating and makes my work less efficient. Very little training program. You get thrown out into a sea of sharks and are basically told "Good luck."
