Pros
Honestly, the people I work with are the reason I go to work and it's just because I got lucky that they hired a FEW reliable people. Will give you time off when needed.
Cons
- Minimum pay. I've been working at Tilly's for a year now. I got a raise in December, right before minimum wage went up and the DM would NOT let me carry my raise over so I went back to being paid minimum wage. My next and most recent raise was only $0.06. - I'm a cashier and am constantly the only one working the register. With that being said, I am still expected to make my sales goals and keep my UPT (Units Per Transaction) up. This is nearly impossible considering every single time I leave the register, I get yelled at that I'm not doing my job. On top of that, our hours are based off of our UPT so since I'm always on register, I'm not meeting my goals, and management is NOT giving me hours. - Tilly's hires more seasonal people than they need at a time. We already have a staff of 13. From what I heard, we're hiring 10 new people onto our seasonal hires. This is completely unnecessary and will leave the people who actual work with an average of 10 hours a week. - Out of our employees, I can name 4 that actual show up for work and WORK. - They don't pay you enough for the things they ask you to do. - My manager constantly told me he was training me to be promoted to the Lead Sales position. That was 6 months ago and he still hasn't given ANYONE the position. - Employee discount is only 20% off which any customer can get if they sign up to get coupons in the mail or buy from the clearance rack. It's nothing special and with tax, it hardly takes anything off of the item you're purchasing. Because the discount is so poor and a lot of the clothes we have are overpriced, I rarely shop at my own store. Even when we get our 40% off once every season, I hardly have money to buy anything because of the lack of hours and low pay. - Need to train the new management better. I find myself constantly telling our new manager how to do things. - Managers get paid pretty poorly, too. - Several employees do not show up for work regularly and have not been fired. They get more hours than the people who show up for work every single time they're scheduled. I do not recommend working at Tilly's.
